The technology
How does it all work?
The YourDay theme park video-capture system is the first of its kind.
It is capable of becoming the de facto provider of all imagery products
in a theme park, including photo-related souvenirs, downloads to mobile
phones and PDAs, and video transmission on the Internet.
This is how it works.
The park experience
- When guests board a park ride with their friends or family, their wristbands are identified by RFID readers.
- The ride vehicle, with all its passengers, moves along the track and passes a sensor, which triggers a video camera just ahead to capture the sequence as the vehicle passes by. On high speed rides, the video cameras use enhanced frames per second and super slow motion to effectively capture personalized footage.
- The personalized footage is then digitally routed, catalogued and stored.
- The guest's record fills throughout the day with personalized video clips as they enjoy the park's other rides and attractions.
- When they’re ready to leave, the guest first pays for the product and then scans his or her RFID wristband, which signals the computer to assemble the personalized DVD.
- The stored personalized video clips are transferred to a DVD recorder, or DVR, and quickly edited into a pre-recorded master DVD of the park.
- Less than five minutes later, the finished DVD is labeled and exchanged for the guest's receipt or proof of purchase.
Behind the scenes
The YourDay system can simultaneously output video data to multiple digital video recorders (“DVRs”). Each full DVD takes less than five minutes to produce, so a single DVR can produce twelve full DVDs every hour. If a park has 50 DVRs, it could produce at least 600 DVDs an hour.
YourDay is scaleable to guest demand by simply adding more DVRs to a park’s system.
